Methods of Saving your Earnings

This is to let you know on the methods by which i try to save from my income. Its just 2 years since I have started to earn and I would like to get expert advice from every one who saves from their income. A part of my income is used for repaying my Loans(Educational & 2 Wheeler) Also a part is invested in Gold. As the rate of Gold is increasing day by day I beleive that would be one among the best ways for saving. Also a part is invested in Mutual Funds which performs well these days. LIC is something else I invest in. I would like to get suggestions from my friends here.
